Evidence of ancient settlements can be seen in the Cootehill area. A Megalithic tomb at nearby Cohaw is a well-preserved example of a double chamber tomb, at least 4000 years old. Set among the drumlins outside Cootehill, nearby Maudabawn Cultural Centre offers classes, short visits, summer schools and tours on Ireland's rich culture and heritage. Gift shop and snack shop also available.
Bellamont House, built in 1725, is one of the finest Palladian houses in Ireland. Designed by Edward Lovett Pearce, who also designed the Bank of Ireland building on College Green in Dublin, Bellamont House is not open to the public, although part of the grounds and paths are accessible.
The Moravian cemetery in the town is a reminder of a small religious sect which flourished in Cootehill from the mid-eighteenth century up until the 1920s.
