Museum Opening Times: Tues - Sat 10am till 5pm Sundays 2pm till 6pm (June to September) Mondays Closed.
Situated on extensive grounds, the magnificent 19th Century building houses the material culture of County Cavan and surrounding area. Exhibition galleries feature unique Stone Age, Bronze Age, Iron Age and Medieval artifacts. Interesting displays include the 1,000 year old Lough Errol Dug-Out boat, the 18th Century Cavan Mace, the 3-faced pre-Christian Corleck Head and Sheela-na-Gigs. Other galleries trace the story of the Gaelic Athletic Association in Cavan together with the County's folklore and heritage.
The Museum is a resource for schools, general tourists and special interest groups. Temporary exhibitions, book launches, musical sessions are also regular features.

The day also features historic quilts on loan from the Ulster Folk and Transport Museum NOVEMBER 10th - 24th November Worlds Apart - an exhibition of sculpture in response to Sept 11th 2001 by Betty Newman-Maguire
Directions: Cavan County Museum is located of the main Ballyjamesduff to Virginia road in the town of Ballyjamesduff. It is approximately 11 miles from Cavan town, 60 miles from Dublin and 90 miles from Belfast
