Walk out of Gowna on the Granard Road. After the bend, walk along Swan Lough walkway as far as the cottage at the end. Go over the stile on the road and walk for 10 metres to the next farm cottage on the road on the left. Cross into the yard and open the gate if necessary. This is a right of way. Closing the gate after you, walk straight ahead along the path by the lake shore. This can be muddy. There are often swans along here. After 500m is a gate which is easily undone and opened. The walk becomes more bushy and the lake is left behind on your left.
After 300m the path divides. Take the right hand path. You pass the Black Lough on your right hand side.
Continue straight on along the path passing a signpost and path for the Aughvains walk. The path becomes smaller and the bog is on your left. On the right hand side are the hills, trees, fields. In the autumn this path is full of puff balls. Birdsong is amazing.
300m further on is a side path off to the left which takes you into the centre of the Bog with heathers, flora and fauna. The path takes a turn to right and on left a lovely view of Loch Gowna.
Turn left at the T Junction coming out into the open. All the waters in Loch Gowna are visible. Follow the road with small houses on the right. Pause in front of pitched roof house for lovely views of the River Erne and Loch Gowna. Walk down the lane and come back on to the Gowna/Granard Road. Turn right for Gowna.
